The Art of Oppression features three female artists and their art: a sculptor and visual artist who was a child during the Yugoslavian civil war, her work speaks of trauma, belonging, and of ghosts; an award-winning visual artist, who addresses identity and shouts of issues relating to race and gender, and a poet who gives voice to Asian women who she argues are 'unseen' and 'unheard'. The women’s art articulates their experience of the social and political issues impacting their gender, race and class.
